U18B Graduates

Apr. 07, 2024

The U18B Rockets had another awesome season, and we are sad to say goodbye to their graduating players Jessica Ross, Lauren Harris, Olivia Finn, Kelsey Johnston, Macy Holroyd, and Reese St. Louis.

A bit about our Rocket grads:

Jessica has been a player in the Ayr Rockets organization for six years. One of her favourite memories as a Rocket was the first time she was selected by Coach Regis to play on a Rep team. Jessica also has fond memories of participating in numerous tournaments during the past six years. Jessica’s goal for the future is to help the Rockets be victorious in the upcoming Provincial Championships.

Lauren has played with the Rockets for 1 year. Her favourite memory of playing with the Rockets is hanging out with her teammates at the hotels. Lauren's teammates and her coaches have made her year with the Rockets very successful and enjoyable. Lauren's future plans are to work in the construction industry building houses.

Olivia has been a member of the Ayr Rockets for six years. Some of Olivia’s favourite memories were the out-of-town tournaments. Olivia especially has fond memories of being a member of Rocket teams that won the prestigious Silverstick tournament on two occasions. Another highlight for Olivia is this year’s 22 wins-O losses regular season. Olivia’s plan for the future is to go to University for Kinesiology and also hopes to get an opportunity to coach.

Kelsey made the decision to come to the Ayr Rockets three years ago and she is glad she did! Prior to playing with the Rockets, Kelsey played with Cambridge and Brantford. It was while playing for the Rockets that Kelsey made memories that will last a lifetime. Her favourite memory was being a member of the Rockets that won two Silverstick tournaments. Another favourite memory occurred this season-- winning gold in an international tournament in Cleveland, Ohio. Although the wins were nice, it was the friendships made along the way that were the most enjoyable part of being a Rocket for Kelsey. Her teammates were friends on the ice and off the ice. Looking to the future, Kelsey will be attending university in the fall majoring in History and Law. Although her time as a Rocket is coming to an end, Kelsey knows that “Once a Rocket, always a Rocket!”

Macy Holroyd, #3, began her hockey career as a freshly turned 4 year-old with the Ayr Flames in 2010. When her "Novice" year was approaching she decided she'd rather play with girls; thus began her 11-year run as an Ayr Rocket. The "career highlight" was her 2017-2018 season where the team had a 57-10-2 record and although they didn't come away as provincial champs, they did win the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League, which at that time, was a long road to a big win! A close second were the three gold medal Silverstick wins. Macy has made life-long friends through hockey and has been lucky to have amazing coaches along the way (even her Dad, until Peewee when she nicely asked that he step aside). Macy hopes to pursue a post-secondary education in Nursing in the fall.

Reese has been playing hockey since she was five and joined the first group of novice Rocket players at the age of six. One of her favourite memories was going go-karting and exploring Clifton hill with her entire team in Niagara Falls. Next year she will attend the University of Guelph for Animal Biology, with the hopes of getting into vet school.

We wish all the graduating Rockets luck in the next part of their journey!
